contrary to popular belief, this is ONLY THE 5TH LARGEST OF THE FELINE FAMILY, and even most cheetahs are bigger and heavier many leopards. the new world puma is bigger, and more powerfully built at the frontal shoulders, with longer more powerful hindquarters.
some puma subspecies avg 71-75kg, often reaching 80kg with ease, while male leopards struggle to exceed 70kg, and the biggest only approx 80-90kg, while the puma reaches exceptional 111 or even 125kg. even female pumas avg heavier (45kg++ vs 32kg)the jaw power of both cats is more or less equal, although the puma has a smaller head/skull (in geneeral)
in a fight, the leopard would probably lose, though
it is also probably the most overrated wildcat. go to any animal forums and u will read posters claiming that these cats will destroy mastiffs, tosa, hyenas etc.
Enemies:
the leopard may be attacked and killed by crocodiles (while drinking at waterholes, rivers or crossing rivers) and lions/tigers/male baboons. hyenas and wild dogs r more of a nuisance than direct threat, they r only interested in stealing the leopard's kill rather than pursuing and killing the spotted cat, like lions do.
howver the asian dhole, unlike its african cousin, the african wild dog, will not hesitate attack and kill the leopard/

persian leopards r reportedly very large, but there is no solid data top back this up. though some pad width and pictures do show a very large specimen. howvere in most persian leopards, the skull is smaller or avg compared to african subspecies
from wikipedia Its body is comparatively long for a cat and its legs are short.[17] Head and body length is between 125 and 165 cm (49 and 65 in) and the tail reaches 60 to 110 cm (24 to 43 in). Shoulder height is 45 to 80 cm (18 to 31 in). The muscles attached to the scapula are exceptionally strong, which enhances the leopard's ability to climb trees.[16]
Leopards show a great diversity in size. Males are about 30% larger than females,[18] weighing 30 to 91 kg (66 to 200 lb) compared to 23 to 60 kg (51 to 130 lb) for females. Large males of up to 91 kg have been documented in Kruger National park in South Africa; however, males in the South Africa's coastal mountains average a much smaller 31 kg.[16] This wide variation in size is thought to result from the quality and availability of prey found in each habitat. Smaller sized leopards also are known in the deserts of the Middle East.[19]

Leopards are inferiro to cougars in built..the only advantages male leopards have is the generally slightly longer and wider skull in the biggest subspecies, and thicker neck..other than that ot loses to the puma in almost every other factor, including figjting records vs compwting predators..the leopard has shorter inferiro front and hindlegs and generally less muscular even in the shoulder vs most male pumas..female leopards avg 10kg less in body weight and less impressive skulls..leopards have flight mentality due to intense compettition in their habitat, there is little or no records of leopards attacking nor killing adult bears or even wolves..big wilves, not those small arabian sized wolves
